Bio

Pastor Winsome currently serves as the Lead Pastor of The Journey, a church located in Castro Valley, CA. Prior to  launching The Journey, Pastor Winsome served as a church consultant and as the Interim Executive Pastor at Cerritos Baptist Church (Cerritos, CA) for 3 years, focusing in the areas of strategic planning, church planting, and staff development.

Prior to this, he served as an Associate Pastor at Christian Layman Church (Oakland, CA) for over 8 years, focusing in the areas of preaching and teaching, strategic planning, HR and personnel policy development, evangelism and missions, lay leadership development, and church planting.

Pastor Winsome is also the co-founder and Executive Director of the Asian American Leadership Center, a 501(c)(3) ministry consulting and missionary organization whose mission is to empower Asian Americans for life and leadership in service to God and others.  He has also served with the collegiate parachurch ministry of Asian American Christian Fellowship (AACF) for over 5 years, focusing on the development of leadership training resources for the staff and students.

Pastor Winsome graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a degree in Business Administration, and worked three years doing finance work in the banking and computer software industries. He graduated from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity and a M.A. in Intercultural Studies, followed by a Ph.D. in Intercultural Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary. For recreation, he enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time with friends.
